I'm heading out to San Francisco today thru the weekend on a mini biz trip. I was a little hesitant on flying - not because of the safety, but because of the long lines in the airport. I have to say that I got to the gate in record timing this morning. Left my apartment at 6:05am and was in line at Cibo Express in the Jet Blue terminal by 6:55am.
Tips for traveling so far: Do not take an airline that you cannot print your boarding pass ahead of time. This saved me at least one and a half hours. The line was ridiculous for the ticket counters. Another tip is to not check your luggage. While packing last night, I realized that I didn't need my toiletries because they would be a hassle to get thru security with the new laws. I left them behind at the apartment and it allowd me to save at least an hour as I would have had to checked them.
If you are flying and have a printed out boarding pass and only carry-on luggage, don't get discouraged when you get to the airport and see huge lines - at least I felt that way! My stomach almost dropped. You can go right around generally and bypass the crowd.
