As most of you know, I just moved apartments from Murray Hill to the UES. I happened to have picked the two worst days to move due to the extreme weather conditions. Oh well, life goes on.
I spoke with Time Warner Cable about a week before I moved into the apartment and I booked a time that they could come in and install my cable and Internet service. I "worked" from home today and waited for the Time Warner installation person to come... was supposed to be at the apartment between 10am-2pm. At 2:30pm, I was still waiting. Come 3:15, the gentlemen arrives like nothing happened and begins the install. Within 30 minutes, he had finished everything and we tested the TV - fine. We then tested the Internet - worked, but very slowly. He said it was my Netgear router and he left....
Fast forward to 5pm - I've been on the phone with Netgear trying to get things working and we adequately troubleshoot everything for about 45 minutes and realized that the "cable" light on the modem isn't on... Time Warner's fault.
I quickly called up Time Warner after plugging and unplugging everything multiple times and trouble shot it with their phone support. Needless to say, they couldn't make it work and I'm scheduled for another "technician call" on Tues, August 8. Nothing sooner. It's amazing - how hard is it to make a cable modem work?!
Most likely a signal problem. Happened when I lived in Hoboken. The solution? Bust into your building's utility closet, pry open the cable box. Find your cable line. Hook it right to the main. Problem fixed.

Aghhhh, good luck with everything. I had the worst experience with Time Warner, they canceled my appointment after a I waited the entire time block...eventually I fought enough and learned their policy to provide a month free when they completely miss an appointment. You should at least be able to get HBO or something free for the month because of your inconvenience with thier delay.

Eek, I'm moving apartment in 20 days, and I'm going to contact Times Warner Cable too... hopefully they'll provide me with better services than what you've experienced. Good luck with the 'technician call'!
