Have you ever wanted something really badly that even if it didn't happen to you, you'd still be happy if someone else got it and you knew it was in good hands? I'm currently at odds - I've had a business idea for quite some time now and I feel that the market is exceptionally ripe right now. For various reasons including my involvement in leading in-game advertising company IGA Worldwide, Inc., I cannot pursue this opportunity but I also do not want to see it sit.
With that said, I've gone ahead and put my thoughts down on paper professionally (scope doc and business opportunity) and built the first iteration of the scaleable technological infrastructure in .NET and Ajax (+SQL 2005). In a nutshell, the idea is a niche social network for families with the ability for media sharing and tagging. Think genealogy 2.0 and digital family archiving. The deeper you dig into this opportunity, the more you'll believe in its market. I do not have to convince you, read the press on it.
Instead of shelving the idea for the future, I've gone ahead and listed it on eBay so a serious entrepreneur can come in and run with the idea. The marketplace is extremely hot for this type of idea and major media companies such as Yahoo, Viacom, Newscorp, IAC, Google, MyFamilyInc., and others are perfect strategic allies for this. I am very passionate about this opportunity and will make myself available as much as possible to see it succeed.

A social network where family members can establish a virtual "living" family tree would be amazing. Who knows who you're connected to?

This is really fascinating idea and no doubt would be successful if purchased by the right person. I'm interested to see where this thing goes.
